WRAP UP THE YOUNOODLE CAMP

It has been three weeks since the camp began and now that this "course" ends, I would say that I’m another person. But you will ask  yourself Why? Or  Why a course may influence in my personal life?. Ok, the answer is simple. Involves, creates and /or works  on something that moves your world, that is your motivation every day and what excites you do.
Everyone has good ideas and everyone wants to make this world a better place to live. But having the vision and courage to undertake a new idea is not for everyone. Everyone can’t  be an entrepreneur.

Pitch day! Today was the big day. Today was our final presentations and the only opportunity to impress our investors and our jury. We had a very interesting Jury. Here the people of our jury:

Sam Purtill, Summer Associate, Founders Fund (investor)
Mary Kate Hurlbutt, Tech Outreach Associate, First Republic Bank (operations and banking)
Hannah Russin, Channel Marketing Manager at GREE, Inc. (marketing expert)
Tom Kosnik, Professor at STVP, Stanford University (academic)
Lasse Chor, Certified Facilitator for Startup Weekend (organizer)
Aaron Hayes, Meltwater (sales and startup valuations)
Victor Reyes, TechBA (incubator)
Armando Pereira, Pereira-Ventures (startup consultant, Startup Portugal)
Rebeca Hwang, CEO of YouNoodle (entrepreneur) - Judging Panel Facilitator

We was the first team to pitch so, We arrived to Golden Gate University very early to ensure that everything went well. We prepared the last details in the presentation and We made one last  pitch test in the real stage.

So, when the event started, our pitchers were ready and went ahead. I think be the first team was difficult. But  despite that, I think the pitch was incredible. Our feedbacks weren’t as good as We thought but I think, We improved a lot from our last pitch.

Now We have to wait for the jury’s results.

Today was a work day. We had to prepare the best pitch ever. We met with the team early to organize the activities and plan the best way to impress the jury.

At first, We didn’t have to much idea to how improve our last presentation so We started to make real the idea into an application. So, with the designs that We did one day before, Fernando created the main interface of our startup. With some bugs We had in almost 3 hours our first prototype.

After that, the team considered the important points to mention in the presentation. Rafael was the elected to pitch with the cofounder of Mexican VC. He had a important feedback from him and from Lucia. Also We received a feedback from Torsten. After all this feedback We had a better speech to the pitch.

Finally, We worked with likes in the new app and We made the final details. I loved the entrepreneur's environment.
I share a link with a reportage about "Circle House"

July 17th, 2012

We started the day with a tour in a different startup but not less interesting. It was a startup house that is basically a house for entrepreneurs where they can meet people who are working in a idea or in a project. I think is a very interesting startup simply because the foreign movement in the creation of startups in San Francisco is very strong. Live with people who has the same interests and also are away from home is really a brilliant idea. I hope in the future be living in one of these houses.

So, later We had a panel with two interesting startups: Indiegogo and AngelList . We discussed about the process of Venture Capital. It was kind of kept because they gave us tips through their experience for what do and what not do.

Finally, We had an extraordinary experience. We had a happy hour with “Circle” startup. I loved so much to have the opportunity to meet this people and made some contacts.

July 16th, 2012

Today was the best day in the year for lack of rivalry xD.

The day started in a weird way because when I wake up I didn’t have any plan so I accepted a overture to go Golden Bridge but in the journey, Natalie and me received a call to go see an investor. So we changed the route and We went to the café to meet the investor and the other guys from the team. The chat was so interesting and very open to create new ideas and know as much we can each other. I think was a experience invaluable and unique in its type.

Then We had some visits to Google and Apple. I found more interesting Google than Apple because they are too diferent each other. One of them is open to know its culture and its way to working, that was Google. Apple was so distant and kind of self-contained so We only had a quick chat with a guy who is project management and system’s engineer.

Definitely  I would love to work in Google. <3

July 13th, 2012

Like any other day, today We went  to take a taxi to our class in the Golden Gate University. We just had one class and it was kind of feedback  for our pitches. It was so interesting.

Then, We had a great extra class with Richar. Richar is part of younoodle’s team. He is a very experienced person in the fiel of business models so We had a kind of session with him when We had the opportunity  to create a new business’s idea and made its business models. I found the activity so useful because so many ideas appeared in the process.  After that, Richard gave us a quick advice about venture capital in San Francisco. I really love it because I didn’t know anything about it.
